Save The Children - 6 October 2011

PLEASE TAKE JUST ONE MINUTE TO READ THIS AND HELP ALLER SAVE THE CHILDREN
In the world’s poorest countries, 8 million children under five die needlessly every year. Most are killed by illnesses we know how to prevent and treat, and every single day, thousands of children face starvation. Save the Children already saves thousands of lives across the world, but you can help us save many, many more.

In the UK, too many children don’t get the chance to shine as they’re born into poverty. Support Save the Children and you can help them beat the odds and get their chance to shine.

SO WHAT CAN ALLER DO?

Each year Aller holds fund raising events to support Save the Children, last year we raised £850. The next event is the ever popular Bring and Buy Sale at Harwood House on 6th October where you can treat yourself to: homemade cakes, marmalade, jams, chutneys and pies. Or benefit from the toils of our green fingered neighbours, buying locally produced fresh vegetables. Please bring your surplus vegetables, unwanted (new) gifts, prizes, crafts, pottery, china, even clothes etc. The variety is what makes it interesting. If you can’t attend on the day, your gifts would be gratefully received beforehand.
There will be refreshments throughout the day including: coffee, biscuits, rolls, pate, cheese, wine etc, at lunch time and tea later (as when you like it)
There is no entry charge, funds are raised from purchases, though you can make a donation on the day if you wish.
Please join use between 10.00 am and 16.00 on 6th October at Harwood House (on the High Street, opposite the Village Hall) to help make a difference. Please contact Elspeth Layard for further details at m.e.harwood@btinternet.com
