There has been an increasing amount of dog mess along the pavements in Aller, most noticeably in Church Path, the cut way to the playing fields and the grassed dog
walking area that runs parallel to the play area.
Dog excrement can be especially harmful to young children. Most Aller residents are responsible dog owners who diligently clean up after their dogs, this is a plea to those who neglect to do so, so please could we kindly remind you to clean up after your dog at all times.
South Somerset District Council can impose a fixed penalty notice of £80 to those residents who fail to pick up after their dogs and failure to pay this could lead to a fine of up to £1,000.
A South Somerset council spokesman warns, "We would like to remind dog owners that fixed penalty notices can be issued on the evidence of any member of the public. If anyone sees anyone not cleaning up after their dog please report the incident, giving the enforcement officers as much information as possible. Anyone who has information can contact us - by working together we can make the streets and open spaces of South Somerset cleaner".
Incidents of dog fouling can be reported to the council by calling 01935 462462 and speaking to an enforcement officer confidentially.
This is a polite reminder, so let's keep our streets, footpaths and verges safe and clean.
