Environment Agency Update

After the recent rain the river levels are above normal and the spillways are running. This will be the first real test of the new flood defences.

The Environment Agency is issuing updates as and when it thinks necessary. The latest (15 Jan) is available in full here. A summary of the EA actions is below.

River levels are currently too high to operate most pumping stations. As soon as the river levels drop, over the coming days, we will operate pumps to remove water from the moors and return these to normal winter levels. 

Environment Agency staff are currently carrying out routine checks, are responding to any reporting incidents, and operating structures to assist in removing flood water.
