It could have been a barbecue gone wrong. Or it might have been a
deliberate attempt at arson. Both possibilities are open to
investigation at present.
All we know is the replica Stonehenge which grew up on Aller Recreation Field yesterday is now a pile of ashes.
Some people, possibly with inside knowledge, sat back with a look of
satisfaction on their faces, while a crowd of hundreds gathered from the
village and surrounding area to watch the spectacle, and were
entertained with music and fire acts, regaled by ample food and a
selection of beverages.
A great time was had by all, so thanks to the organisers and all who helped make it a flaming success. The Village Hall, Recreation Field and St Andrew's Church will benefit from the proceeds.
